Plasticisers and the environment

The plasticiser industry is dedicated to minimising the impact of plasticisers of the environment. As a collective:

  • We are working with different stakeholders, including the European Commission & ECHA to ensure that the environmental impact of plasticisers is as low as possible.
  • We undertake scientific studies, publish the results, and provide scientific evidence to ensure the objective evaluation of the potential effects of plasticisers on the environment.
  • We are investing in research and development to create the next generation of plasticisers.
  • We work on enhancing the recycling of plastic products.
  • We advise our customers on safe handling and use of plasticisers.
  • We support risk assessments for plasticised PVC articles.

Plasticisers with the exception of the polymeric ones are REACH registered.

Detailed data on ecotoxicological properties are publicly available from ECHA.
